1. Satguru Maharaj Ji Proffers Solution To Atiku’s Election Loss

Popular cleric Satguru Maharaj Ji has advised the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, to spend on orphanages instead of giving money to lawyers to contest the results of the February 23 presidential election. The religious leader spoke during an exclusive chat with the Punch correspondent on Thursday.

2. INEC Speaks Ahead Of Governorship, State Assembly Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has promised not to issue certificates of return to any candidate declared winner of an election under duress. INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, made this known during a meeting with the inter-agency consultative committee on election security held in Abuja on Thursday.


3. Buhari Insists PDP Must Account For ‘Squandering’ Nigeria’s Wealth

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday said that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) still have to explain to Nigerians how it spent huge amount of resources that accrued to the country from oil sales between 1999 and 2014. He stated this while receiving the leadership of organized labour which came to felicitate with him on his victory in the presidential election at State House, Abuja.

4. Gov’ship Elections: Court Of Appeal Returns APC’s Eze For Enugu Poll

The judgment delivered by the Federal High Court, Abuja, which annulled the primary election that produced Senator Ayogu Eze as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Enugu State has been set aside by Court of Appeal, Abuja Division. A 3- man panel of the justices of the court of Appeal led by Justice Abdul Aboki, held that the suit at the trial court was filed out of time, as stipulated by the section 285 which ought to be 14 days after the cause of action had taken place, but plaintiff (George Ogara) filed on 13th November.

5. Politicians Plotting To Disrupt March 9 Elections With Bombs – Nigerian Army

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, has uncovered plans by some politicians to bomb some areas during the March 9 election. Buratai said this on Wednesday at a meeting with Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), General Officers Commanding (GOC), Operational Commanders and Directors of the military at the Army Headquarters in Abuja.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 23 election, Atiku Abubakar, has called on the party supporters to come out en masse to vote its candidates for the governorship and state assembly elections coming up on Saturday, March 9. Atiku made the call in a broadcast on Twitter and Facebook on Thursday morning where he also thanked the party faithful and supporters for their votes during the presidential and National Assembly elections.

7. Appeal Court Returns APC’s Danladi For Taraba Governorship Candidate

The Court of Appeal sitting in Jalingo has ordered a stay of execution on the disqualification of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State, Sani Danladi. Justice Chidi Uwa gave the order on Thursday, a day after the Federal High Court in Jalingo disqualified Danladi from participating in the coming governorship election in the state. He stayed the execution of the order of the lower court following a motion ex-parte filed by Danladi and the APC.

8. Buhari Arrives Daura Ahead Of Governorship Election

Ahead of the Governorship and State Assembly elections scheduled for Saturday, March 9, President Muhammadu Buhari arrived his home town in Daura, Katsina on Thursday to perform his civic right. Concise News gathered that the President arrived at the Daura Helipad in a Presidential Chopper marked NAF-541 at 6:50 p.m. in company with his aides and close family members.
9. Ogun Election: Ex-Governor Gbenga Daniel Endorses APC’s Abiodun

Former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel has endorsed the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Dapo Abiodun for the March 9 governorship election in the state. The Director-General of the Atiku Campaign Organisation, South, made the decision during a meeting on Thursday with the political bigwigs at his house in Sagamu.

10. Europa League: Iwobi Scores As Rennes Thrash 10-Man Arsenal

French club Rennes came from behind to defeat Arsenal 3-1 in the first leg of the Europa League last-16 fixture on Thursday night. The Gunners took an early lead in the third minute when Alex Iwobi’s cross went in off the post. Sokratis Papastathopoulos red card after picking up two yellow cards in the space of 10 minutes changed the course of things for the London side as Benjamin Bourigeaud then drew his side level with a stunning strike before an unfortunate Nacho Monreal own goal put the home side ahead.
