Nigeria on Wednesday joined different countries the world over in banning the Boeing 737 Max eight from flying over its airspace to make certain passenger safety.

The Minister of state for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, made this known when he addressed state  house correspondents at the final results of the meeting of the Federal govt Council (FEC), which was presided over by  President Muhammadu Buhari, on the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He stated that the planes might continue to be ban pending the determination of the actual cause of the crash in Ethiopia and pending the outcome of the reaction of the producers of the aircraft.

“concerning Boeing 737 Max eight and Max nine that were in the information currently, there may be no reason for alarm as there may be no operator in Nigeria that is in use of that kind of plane.

“The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, whose mandate it's  to  give advisory, has already issued advisory that nobody have to fly into Nigeria or out of Nigeria using Boeing 737 Max eight and Max 9, pending the dedication of the actual purpose of the crash in Ethiopia and also pending the final results of the response of the manufacturer, that's Boeing.
