#BREAKING NEWS: What Osibanjo told us about Buhari's new economic council, EMT- Gov Yahaya

The National Economic Council (NEC), comprising the vice chairman, 36 nation governors, governor of the central bank of Nigeria, Minister of Finance, Secretary to the government of the Federation, among others met in Abuja on Thursday.

Talking to newsmen, Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe nation, disclosed that he and his colleagues mentioned the economic management group (EMT) and the newly fashioned economic Advisory Council (EAC) with vp Yemi Osinbajo.

Yahaya stated: “Governors requested for rationalization from NEC’s chairman-the vice president, on the connection between NEC and the newly informed economic Advisory Council.

“And the vice chairman defined that those councils are advisory for the benefit of the President while NEC is set up by using the constitution, they're to supplement one another.

“He introduced that NEC may be briefed often on the activities of the financial Advisory Council with the permission of the president”, he delivered.

The presidency had stated the EAC can have monthly technical periods as well as scheduled quarterly meetings with the President.

“The Chairman (President Buhari) may also, but, request for unscheduled conferences if the want arises”, he stated.
